Their mission is “to provide educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning.”

We at Backyard Brains share their vision, and have offered to help by creating low-cost equipment so children can learn about biology. We have called our effort “One Cockroach Per Laptop (OCPL)” in a tounge-in-cheek nod to our parent project.
